Every February, the city of Tucson, Arizona, becomes a center for celebrating cowboy culture with La Fiesta de los Vaqueros, one of the most important rodeos in North America. The event celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2025, continuing to bring together tradition, sports and family fun.
History and Origins
La Fiesta de los Vaqueros was first held in February 1925. It was initiated by Leighton Kramer, president of the Arizona Polo Association, who sought to attract tourists to Tucson during the winter and support the local polo team. Since then, the event has become an annual celebration reflecting the Wild West spirit and cowboy traditions of the region.
Rodeo highlights
La Fiesta de los Vaqueros features a variety of competitions including:
- bareback riding (bareback riding),
- steer wrestling,
- team roping,
- saddle bronc riding,
- bull riding.
These competitions attract participants from all over the world, including Australia, Canada and Brazil.
Rodeo Parade
One of the most anticipated events is the Tucson Rodeo Parade, which is considered the longest non-mechanized parade in the world. It includes more than 200 horse-drawn wagons and performances by marching bands and dance groups. The parade attracts more than 200,000 spectators each year.

The event takes place at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds, which covers 36 acres. Tickets can be purchased online or on-site, with a variety of seating options including VIP areas.
